位于西湖之畔的杭州植物园始建于1956年，面积达215ha。由于具有优越的地理位置、优美的风景、丰富的自然与文化资源及良好的植物生长条件，使得杭州植物园成为中国最重要的植物园之一。然而杭州植物园也面临许多问题，周边环境用地杂乱，园区被城市道路穿越，一些具有特色的专类园分离于植物园之外，物种资源逐年减少，基础设施严重不足并老化，管理滞后，特色专类园不足，景观封闭，交通，游览和水系都不成系统，科普性和参与性也比较差。

The Hangzhou Botanical Garden, located on the bank of the West Lake, was built in 1956 and covers an area of 215 ha. Because of its excellent geographical location, beautiful scenery, abundant natural and cultural resources and good growing conditions, Hangzhou Botanic Garden has become one of the most important botanical gardens in China. However, the Hangzhou Botanical Garden is faced with many issues: The surrounding environment is very disorderly, the park is traversed by urban roads, some specialty gardens with unique features are separated from the botanical garden, species resources are reduced year by year, infrastructure is seriously inadequate and management is lagged, specialty gardens are insufficient, landscape is closed, traffic, sightseeing and water systems are not systematic, popular science and participation are also poor.

多义景观接受委托，对杭州植物园进行了长期并深入的研究，完成了杭州植物园的改建规划。依据杭州植物园现有的优越条件，如面积、气候、资源、历史、景观、吸引力等，寻求到合理的措施，将植物园的植物种类从现在的3000种增加到8000种，使其达到国际顶级的植物园应具有的基本水准。

Atelier DYJG was commissioned to carry out a long-term and in-depth study of Hangzhou Botanical Garden, and completed the reconstruction plan. Based on the favorable conditions of Hangzhou botanical garden, such as area, climate, resources, history, landscape and attraction, reasonable measures should be sought to increase the plant varieties of the garden from 3000 to 8000, bring it up to the basic level required for the international top-class botanical garden.

经合理规划与调整与完善，切实解决各种问题，整合各项资源，凸显自身特色，杭州植物园将成为国际一流的植物园。该规划正在逐步实施，原山水园、玉泉及槭树杜鹃园的改建于2012年完成，展览温室的论证正在进行中。待规划的一些内容实施后，杭州植物园必将重新成为杭州市最受关注和欢迎的景区，也会成为世界上最好的植物园之一。

After reasonable planning, adjustment and improvement, the design effectively solves various problems, integrates resources, highlights their own characteristics, Hangzhou Botanical Garden will become an international first-class botanic garden. The project is being implemented gradually, with the rehabilitation of the original landscape park, Yuquan and Acer Rhododendron park completed in 2012 and the demonstration and discussion of an exhibition greenhouse is in process. After the implementation of some planned contents, Hangzhou Botanical Garden will attract the most attention and welcome scenic spots in Hangzhou again, and it will also become one of best botanic gardens in the world.
