位于西湖之畔的杭州植物园始建于1956年，面积达215ha。由于具有优越的地理位置，优美的风景，丰富的自然与文化资源及良好的植物生长条件，使得杭州植物园成为中国最重要的植物园之一。玉泉观鱼是一个历史悠久的园林。为了使观鱼池中的水得到循环利用，2001年在玉泉后的山坡上建造了5个人工湿地池塘，通过水循环，净化鱼塘水质。当时这一工程只是为了水质净化，并没有完全与玉泉的景观和游览结合起来，后来，净化池又废弃不用。2011年多义景观完成了这一区域的规划，通过道路、休息平台、植物，将这片净化池与整个玉泉联系在一起，拓展了玉泉的游览面积，增加了科普教育的内容，也为杭州植物园提供了一片宁静的，具有山林气息的休息空间。

Yuquan (Jade Spring) is a garden of long history in Hangzhou Botanical Garden. In order to treat the wastewater of the fishpond in the garden, 5 ponds with aquatic plant was build on the hillside behind the garden. It was only a technical project, had no relationship with the landscape of Yuquan Garden. Later this artificial wetland was abandoned. Atelier DYJG was commissioned in 2011 to redesign the place and the project was completed in 2012. Now this area has become a part of Yuquan Garden, a peaceful rest area in woods, as well as a new place for public education.
