2015年，南宁市决定申办2018年国际园林博览会。南宁园博会选址于五象新区八尺江畔的顶狮山地块，该区域是南宁市规划确定的城市绿地，毗邻新石器时代顶狮山贝丘文化遗址，四周丘陵起伏，水系蜿蜒，景色宜人。地块内部有大大小小10余处废弃的采石场，开采过的自然山体均遭受了非常严重的破坏。

In 2015, Nanning decided to bid for the 2018 International Garden Expo. Nanning Garden Exposition is located in the Dingshishan Plot by the Bachi River in Wuxiang New Area, which is an urban green land planned by Nanning City. It is adjacent to the Neolithic Dingshishan Beiqiu cultural historic site, surrounded by rolling hills, winding river systems and pleasant scenery. There are more than 10 abandoned quarries in the plot, and the natural mountains that have been mined have suffered serious damage.

考虑到地块内部优美的自然风景和丰富的历史遗迹，我们不希望园博会的建设对这种环境带来太多的扰动。我们把园博园本身视为一个低调的展品，它将以谦虚的姿态消隐于周边丘陵地貌中。南宁园博会的主题为“生态宜居，园林圆梦”，规划的核心策略是实现自然景观与展会内容的有机融合，修复和改造采石场废弃场地，构建完善的雨水管理体系，保护毗邻的顶狮山贝丘文化遗址，加强城市生活与园博会互动，强调园博会与周边空间的有效链接，描绘“生态的园博，文化的园博，共享的园博”美好愿景。

Considering the beautiful natural scenery and rich historical sites inside the plot, we don't want the construction of the Expo to bring too much disturbance to this special environment. We regard the Garden Expo itself as a low-key exhibit, which will be humbly hidden from the surrounding hilly landscape. Nanning garden expo set the theme as "Ecological livability, garden dream come true", the core of strategy is to realize the organic integration of the natural landscape and exhibition content, repair and renovate quarry abandoned field, construct a complete rainwater management system, to protect the adjacent Beiqiu heritage site of Shidingshan, strengthen the interaction between urban life and the garden expo, emphasize the effective links that the garden expo with surrounding space, depicting vision of "ecological garden expo, cultural garden expo and Sharing garden expo".

根据布展内容的不同，规划将园区分为四季花谷、东盟园、广西园、采石场花园、农事花园、大师园、创意花园、企业园、中华园、湿地水花园、住宅花园、儿童花园、健康花园等13个分区。其中采石场花园位于矿山集中开采的区域，该地块条件复杂，建造展园将面临诸多挑战。然而，规划并没有回避挑战，而是运用生态再生的理念，巧妙的将场地不利因素转换为独特的景观形式，赋予废弃矿坑更多的艺术内涵，并把该区域打造为亮点向市民展现。

According to the different contents of the exhibition, the park will be divided into 13 zones: Four Seasons Flower Valley, ASEAN Garden, Guangxi Garden, Quarry Garden, Agricultural Garden, Master Garden, Creative Garden, Enterprise Garden, Chinese Garden, Wetland Water Garden, Residential Garden, Children's Garden and Health Garden. Among them, the quarry garden is located in an area of concentrated mining. The land conditions are complex, thus the construction of the garden will face many challenges. However, the planning does not avoid challenges, but uses the concept of ecological regeneration, cleverly transforms the unfavorable factors of the site into a unique landscape form, endows the abandoned minepit with more artistic connotation, and designs the area as a bright spot showing to public.

经过激烈角逐，南宁市凭借本次规划设计方案及其自身的城市优势在 8个提交申请的城市中脱颖而出，赢得了2018园博会的举办权。南宁园博会于2018年12月建成开园。

After fierce competition, Nanning City won the right to host the 2018 Garden Expo by virtue of this planning and design scheme and its own urban advantages, which stood out from the 8 cities that submitted applications. Nanning Garden Expo was completed and opened in December 2018.
